Description

Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support is a non-profit agency providing a continuum of care for women and children who are victims of family violence. For years Genesis has been providing safety, shelter, crisis intervention, on-going counseling and advocacy for women and children at both residential and non-residential locations. Genesis continues to be a community leader in providing training and education on issues surrounding intimate partner and gender-based violence.  

*** This is a full-time position. We do not have any
Part-Time or PRN positions available. ***

The Bilingual Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will provide direct occupational therapy services to clients at all Genesis locations.

  • Implement the occupational therapy plan of care as directed by an occupational therapist; identify safety concerns as related to occupational therapy services and engage in safety planning with referred clients
  • Provide individual and group occupational therapy services to women, adolescents, and children
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client services in the electronic database, in compliance with agency
    guidelines.
  • Consult with advocates, counselors, teachers and attorneys on clients with occupational therapy needs; including assisting in identifying when/why an occupational therapy referral would be appropriate for clients.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team in maintaining and updating the Sensory Room

 

Skills / Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Valid COTA certification
  • State licensure as a COTA
  • Valid CPR Certification (Genesis will provide opportunity to gain within first 6 months)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Experience working with Adults and Children.
  • Ability to be an efficient problem-solver and multitask
  • Be proactive and a self-starter.
  • Provide clear and direct communication throughout the organizational structure.
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Texas Driver License with a Clean Driving Record and reliable transportation
