Description

Genesis Women's Shelter & Support provides safety, shelter and support for women who have experienced domestic violence and their children. All of the services at Genesis Women's Shelter & Support are confidential and no cost. Through every effort we put forth we work to end the epidemic of domestic violence by raising awareness against its cause, prevalence and impact. 

The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit and manage volunteers by creating and maintaining lasting relationships with corporate partners, local organizations and individual community members as they seek to provide their time and talents to supporting clients at Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support.  Coordinates volunteer recruitment and training. Ensures a quality orientation and certifies that volunteers have completed any required training programs.  Plans and implements a program that provides for the screening, selection, and recruitment of volunteers.  Provides direct management and oversight to the organization's volunteer staff. Sets goals, assigns projects, and ensures that objectives are being met. Makes recommendations regarding retention or dismissal of volunteer staff.

  • Manages the recruitment and management of all volunteers for the organization and its affiliates (CCAW).
  • Recruit volunteers through community outreach, partnerships, faith organizations, schools, and corporations
  • Screen and onboard volunteers, including background checks and compliance requirements
  • Orient volunteers to the organization’s mission, values, and populations served
  • Match volunteers to roles that align skills, interests, and program needs
  • Schedule and supervise volunteers across programs and events
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Address volunteer concerns with empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity
  • Maintain an up-to-date database and use this information to monitor and evaluate activities
  • Track volunteer hours, demographics, and engagement for grant and impact reporting
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records in compliance with nonprofit policies
  • Support audits, insurance, and risk management requirements
  • Develop recognition and appreciation initiatives
  • Increase volunteer retention through meaningful engagement and communication

Skills / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social services, HR, communications, or related field
  • 1–3+ years volunteer coordination or program support experience
  • Experience in nonprofit, social services, healthcare, education, or advocacy settings preferred
  • Background checks or certifications as required by program type
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends for events as needed
