The Graphic Design and Communications Assistant will collaborate closely with the Directors of Graphic Design and Communications to oversee daily tasks, complete minor design and marketing assignments, and support the development and execution of large-scale projects. In terms of design responsibilities, this role will involve managing and restocking collateral across all locations, addressing team requests and occasionally creating new materials for various departments. Additionally, the assistant will contribute to the design and printing of special events, proofread design drafts, and help manage print orders and pickups. The Graphic Design & Communications Assistant will assist in taking photos, capturing and creating content to be used on social media, email and the Genesis website. The Graphic Design & Communications Assistant support other members of the fund development team, occasionally working outside of traditional office hours.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to create visually appealing on-brand administrative collateral, including various swag items, business cards, letterhead, envelopes, folders, email signatures, long-form newsletters, flyers and more under the supervision of the Director of Graphic Design.
- Design assorted digital pieces for use on social media platforms and the Genesis website
- Occasionally assist with basic on-going website maintenance and updates
- Keep all items and print materials organized and up-to-date with agency changes
- Distribute print materials to correct department upon receipt from print vendor
- Support other members of the fund development team, occasionally working outside of traditional office hours.
- Inventory collateral, swag, mailing supplies and other print items regularly to maintain adequate supplies at all times
- Capture photo or video phone content at Genesis events or external events
- Create visually compelling graphics to accompany Genesis blog posts
- Assisting with basic video and audio editing as needed
Skills / Requirements:
- Previous design experience and portfolio are required
- Experience with print and digital design parameters
- Knowledge and strong command of the Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.
- Knowledge of video and audio editing, a plus
- Ability to create two-dimensional animation, a plus
- Photography and Social Media Experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a highly fast-paced environment
