Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support is a non-profit agency providing a continuum of care for women and children who are victims of family violence. For thirty years Genesis has been providing safety, shelter, crisis intervention, on-going counseling and advocacy for women and children at both residential and non-residential locations.  Genesis continues to be a community leader in providing training and education on issues surrounding intimate partner and gender-based violence.

We are seeking an experienced Bilingual Intake Specialist to join our team. The Bilingual Intake Specialist will be responsible for providing administrative support and ensuring smooth operations at the front desk of our outreach office. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a strong passion to work in the non-profit setting assisting women and children.

  • Answer calls and receive walk-ins.
  • Assist clients seeking services in articulating their needs.
  • Facilitate a screening process that will support linkage to the appropriate services and resources.
  • Advocate for individuals and families in order to secure resources and services.
  • Triage and de-escalate persons in crisis and connect persons to appropriate emergency resources.
  • Assist persons who call or walk-in with the completion of applications, screening tools, and other related documentation required for accessing resources or services.
  • Provide follow-up calls to assure referral/linkage was successful.
  • Complete necessary documentation and data entry of the intake service

Skills / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field
  • Two years' experience working in the intake setting
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
  • Good computer skills and ability and willingness to learn a variety of applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be detailed oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated courtesy, patience, and good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
