Description
The Substitute Teacher for the Summer Program at Genesis Women’s Shelter and Support works with the lead teacher and independently to implement a fun and engaging summer curriculum for elementary and secondary students who come from homes affected by domestic violence. Lesson plans are provided and focus on creativity, enrichment, and social-emotional growth. The Substitute Teacher supports weekly field trips, fosters a safe and supportive classroom environment, manages student behavior, communicates with staff and families, and helps ensure the smooth daily operation of the summer program.

Requirements:
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, and sit on the floor to engage with students
- Must pass a criminal background check
Duties:
- Follow provided lesson plans and deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction
- Prepare and organize materials needed for activities and lessons
- Support and participate in weekly field trips
- Manage student behavior and implement the school’s behavior management plan
- Communicate regularly with staff regarding student needs and progress
- Maintain student records and ensure classroom safety
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
- Report any instances of abuse or neglect following agency policy
- Uphold high professional and ethical standards in accordance with the Texas Educators’ Code of Ethics
- Assist with daily program operations and support the mission of Genesis Women’s Shelter and Support
